This period will offer a glimpse of what's to come, providing players with the chance to experience the upcoming changes before they are officially implemented.
The first public test realm (PTR) for Diablo IV is on the horizon, allowing players with a PC Battle.net account to participate and provide valuable feedback. The PTR will be available from April 2 through April 9, giving players the opportunity to test upcoming changes and features for Season 4.
The purpose of the PTR is to gather feedback from the community and make necessary adjustments before the official launch of Season 4. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that the player experience in Sanctuary is significantly improved. Players can look forward to testing features such as Helltide Reborn, The Pit of Artificers, and boss ladder updates.
During this testing period, players will have the chance to provide feedback on the new features and changes. This feedback will be crucial in shaping the final release of Season 4, ensuring that it meets the expectations of the player base.
To participate in the PTR, players can install the necessary files and join the testing phase. The PTR will provide an opportunity for players to explore class updates and access the full patch notes, allowing them to gain insights into the upcoming changes and improvements.
With these exciting developments on the horizon, players are encouraged to immerse themselves in the changes and updates that await in Sanctuary. Get ready for a new and improved Diablo 4 experience! Our approach to itemization updates is guided by three main principles: prioritizing quality over quantity, ensuring that the best items offer a journey of power and improvement, and making sure that items are satisfying and exciting to use.
In summary, here are the key changes made to itemization:
- The number of affixes on legendary items has been reduced to 3, and to 2 on rare items.
- A smaller pool of more potent affixes has been introduced.
- Affixes are now more relevant, including ranks of a single core skill.
- Only sacred items appear in world tier 3, and only ancestral items appear in world tier 4.
- Affix values have been tuned to be more impactful, aiming to make players feel their effects more.
- New affixes such as resource per second, resource on kill, lucky hit: apply vulnerable, life per hit, and basic skill ranks have been added.
- Legendary items dropped from enemies level 95 and above always have 925 item power.
- Gems have been simplified, made more useful, and have a longer crafting tail.
- Salvage, crafting, and rewards have all been adjusted.
- Item drop rates have been significantly reduced to minimize time spent sorting items and encourage more time spent in combat.
- The gold cost for item rerolling has been capped when enchanting.
- Material removal and consolidation have been implemented.
- Forgotten soul can now be obtained from whispers and are now a global rare drop from elites.
-
Uniques now appear earlier in the game.- Uniques will now start dropping in World Tiers I and II, offering players more opportunities to acquire these special items early in the game.
-
In World Tier III, all uniques will be available for players to find, enhancing the variety of items obtainable at this stage of the game.
-
Players can now expect to find uber uniques dropping from monsters at level 55, with a significant item power of 925, providing a new level of powerful gear for high-level gameplay.
-
The introduction of temper manuals as a new, reusable item drop from various in-game content will enable players to add affixes to their items at the blacksmith, introducing a fresh dynamic to item customization and enhancement.
- The codex of power categorizes abilities such as resource management and mobility.
- Once acquired, these abilities can be used without any limitations.
- Each manual contains several affixes, which can be attached one at a time.
- Affixes can be rerolled up to the item's temper reroll limit for customization.
- Ancestral items have the unique ability to have two tempered affixes from different categories.
- Ancestral, legendary, and unique items feature more powerful versions of normal affixes, with a 1.5x multiplier on the affix’s maximum roll.
- Items with a greater affix are easily recognizable by a unique audio cue and a roman numeral (i up to a iv) next to the item name indicating how many affixes are greater, for example: helm (ancestral) – ii .
- In world tiers iii & iv, each affix on an item has a chance to be greater.
- Players are unable to enchant into a greater affix, they can only be found during gameplay.
- A late-game crafting system allows for item upgrades using materials gathered from the pit.
- The system improves the value of current affixes and consists of 12 upgrade ranks.
- Every 4 ranks, a single affix is massively upgraded, while other ranks slightly increase the value of all affixes.
- All legendary aspects are now accessible in the codex of power, allowing players to prioritize hunting for great items instead of constantly managing their inventory.
- The highest roll legendary item that players salvage will be automatically stored in their codex.
- Legendary affix ranges have been recalibrated based on item tiers, including normal, sacred, and ancestral categories.
- The ranges for most legendary affixes have been expanded for greater diversity and effectiveness.
- The user interface has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, introducing manual and keyword search functionalities to enhance accessibility.
- Players now have the option to mark legendary aspects as favorites, simplifying the process of locating them within the game.
In the updated Helltide event, players will experience a revamped and intensified version of the demonic onslaught, bringing the depths of hell to the surface of sanctuary. Here's what you can expect:
-
As you battle through Helltides, your actions will generate threat, with the difficulty of monsters and the frequency of securing tortured gifts determining the amount. Dying will reset your threat level.
-
There are three Helltide threat tiers, each escalating the danger and frequency of monster ambushes. Upon reaching tier 3, players will become hell-marked, signaling increased peril.
-
Reaching maximum threat will trigger a brief ambush frenzy, unleashing maximum enemy density. This ambush will culminate in the appearance of a final hellborne spawn, a formidable agent of hell resurrected from the tortured souls of sanctuary’s most powerful champions. There are five variants representing each class in Diablo IV.
-
Once the hellborn ambush is activated, your threat level will reset, allowing for a fresh escalation of demonic encounters.
- Baneful hearts are primarily obtained by opening tortured gift chests and are used at the accursed ritual location.
- The accursed ritual is a scene of shocking gore and serves as the ultimate testament to the disturbing lengths the manic cultists will go to in order to fulfill their dark wishes.
- To begin the accursed ritual, three baneful hearts need to be deposited, triggering a dense demonic ambush. Other players in the same subzone will be alerted to join the fight if they wish.
- The ambush reaches its climax with the arrival of the blood maiden, an immensely powerful demonic creature who promises great rewards upon her defeat.
Experience the thrill of helltides right from the start of your character's journey with the upcoming adjustments in the PTR. These changes are designed to enhance the fun and rewards of helltide in World Tier I & II:
- All tortured gifts will now be mystery chests, adding an element of surprise and anticipation to your rewards.
- The removal of roaming bosses and ambient meteors will create a more focused and intense helltide experience.
- While still challenging, there will be less monster density overall in comparison to World Tier III and IV, allowing for a more balanced and strategic gameplay in helltide encounters.
Deep within the intricate network of dungeons in the northern region of sanctuary, rumors have been circulating about the existence of peculiar types of ore. These unique ores are said to be ideal for crafting exceptionally crafted armor using the secretive horadric techniques.
Upon reaching World Tier IV, players will be tasked with completing a Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon as a priority quest. Successful completion of this dungeon will allow players to start collecting Runeshards during endgame activities. These Runeshards are crucial for activating the Obelisk in Cerrigar.
Activating the Obelisk will transport players to the Pit, where the objective is to eliminate a specific number of monsters within a 10-minute time limit. It's important to note that player deaths will have a direct impact on the remaining time, with the first death deducting 30 seconds, the second death deducting 60 seconds, and subsequent deaths deducting 90 seconds each.
- By defeating a certain number of monsters, a portal will materialize, leading to the boss's arena.
- Slaying the boss within the time limit rewards you with masterworking materials and unlocks the next pit tier.
- Defeating the boss with 4-6 minutes remaining unlocks an additional tier.
- Beating the boss with 6 or more minutes left grants two additional tier unlocks.
- The pit boasts an extensive array of difficulty tiers, numbering in the hundreds.
- Even if the mastery timer runs out before completing the pit, loot is still obtained, albeit without any masterworking materials.
- The pit can be tackled in groups of up to four, with the player initiating the pit receiving the majority of the materials.
- Only the player initiating the pit has the opportunity to acquire the materials necessary for summoning tormented echoes.
-
In the latest patch 1.4 for Diablo 4, the formidable Andariel makes her presence felt in the ladder alongside her brother Duriel. Both bosses share the same uber unique drop rate, offering a mix of shadow, fire, lightning, and poison attacks to challenge players.
-
To summon the tormented echoes of all ladder bosses, players can obtain Stygian stones from deep within the pit. These stones, along with an increased amount of summoning materials, will bring forth level 200 tormented echoes, dropping items that are at item level 925.
-
Defeating the first tormented echo rewards players with a resplendent spark, which is account-bound.
-
The PTR servers will be available in major regions like North America, Europe, Korea, Japan, South-East Asia, and Australia. Players logging in through Battle.net will retain their account-based progress, including campaign completion, mounts, skill points, fog of war, and altar of Lilith stat bonuses.
-
For players focused on the endgame, the patch offers the ability to instantly boost characters to level 100 for a more streamlined experience.
