Diablo 4 PTR 2.0 Update: Paragon Points Overhaul
Diablo 4 PTR 2.0 Update Highlights
-
The Diablo 4 development team recently hosted a livestream event, providing insights into the upcoming PTR 2.0 update for Season 6 and the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
-
Key updates discussed in the livestream include significant changes to how paragon points operate.
-
Paragon points will now be associated with the realm rather than individual character levels.
-
This adjustment allows all characters within the same realm to share their earned paragon levels, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
-
To accommodate this new system, various modifications have been made to the leveling process, as well as adjustments to other stats and monster levels.
-
The presentation of numbers and values has been simplified for better comprehension.
-
Character levels will now range from 1 to 60, which will represent the character's level.
-
This change grants players an extra 10 skill points, increasing options for character customization.
-
After reaching level 60, players can start earning paragon levels that can be utilized to unlock specific paragon nodes.
-
For characters above level 50, their experience-based paragon points will be converted into paragon levels.
-
For example, a character currently at level 100 will see their level adjusted to 50, and the 200 paragon points earned will transform into realm-wide paragon levels.
-
Characters at level 50 or below will not experience any changes due to this update.- We have made significant updates to how character and paragon levels are handled.
-
There's a thorough reassessment of essential stats, which includes health, armor, and core attributes.
-
This adjustment aims to enhance gameplay dynamics and balance.
-
The game has transitioned from world tiers to a new system of difficulties, enhancing your challenge and rewards.
-
There are four primary difficulties categorized as standard:
- Normal : Ideal for players seeking a more relaxed experience.
- Hard and Expert : Designed for those wanting a more intense experience, these levels ramp up the pace and challenge.
-
Penitent : This mode is for seasoned players ready to face formidable threats as they prepare to tackle the forthcoming torment difficulties.
-
As you progress through these difficulties, both your gold and experience gains will increase.
-
Unlocking the difficulties is straightforward:
- Normal and Hard are available from the start.
- Expert becomes accessible after finishing the prologue of Diablo IV.
- Penitent is unlocked once you reach level 50.
-
Advancing to the new torment levels signifies a true test for experienced players; the real challenge begins here.
-
Your journey through torment difficulties is intricately tied to your progress in the Pit.
-
As you elevate your Pit tiers, access to higher torment difficulties expands.
-
The greater the torment level, the increased likelihood of encountering legendary and ancestral item drops.
-
Here’s how to unlock the torment difficulties:
-
Achieve level 60 to gain access to the Pit and its tiers 1-20.
-
Defeating Pit tier 20 grants entry to Torment I.
-
Completing Pit tier 35 unlocks Torment II.
-
Triumphing over Pit tier 50 opens the path to Torment III.
-
Conquering Pit tier 65 allows access to Torment IV.
-
In addition to the existing dangers in Sanctuary, torment difficulties introduce a new challenge: curses.
-
Your armor and resistances will experience reductions based on the torment level:
-
Torment I: -250 armor, -25% to all resistances.
-
Torment II: -500 armor, -50% to all resistances.
-
Torment III: -750 armor, -75% to all resistances.
-
Torment IV: -1000 armor, -100% to all resistances.
-
By differentiating these levels, players now enjoy more choices in navigating the risk-reward dynamic in Diablo IV.
-
Furthermore, monster levels will no longer be displayed; they will scale according to the difficulty level you select.Glyphs have received significant enhancements to align with recent updates.
-
The process of upgrading glyphs has shifted from relying on experience points to utilizing specific attempts linked to pit tiers.
-
Players earn three upgrade attempts by successfully completing the artificer’s mastery, along with an additional attempt as a reward for staying alive.
-
Each attempt can be applied to any glyph that hasn't reached its maximum level. The probability of a successful upgrade is influenced by both the glyph's current level and the tier of the pit completed. For instance, finishing a pit tier that is 10 levels higher than the glyph guarantees an upgrade.
-
If you tackle a pit tier significantly above your glyph's rank, you gain additional upgrade ranks for each attempt.
-
A bonus upgrade is awarded for every 20-level difference between the glyph's rank and the completed pit tier. Let’s illustrate this with a practical example:
Engaging in three flawless runs of pit tier 30 would elevate a glyph to rank 19, quickly enhancing its radius size:
First Run:
-
Attempt 1: Glyph rank progresses from 1 to 3.
-
Attempt 2: Glyph rank advances from 3 to 5.
-
Attempt 3: Glyph rank improves from 5 to 7.
-
Bonus Attempt 4: Glyph rank escalates from 7 to 9.
Second Run:
-
Attempt 1: Glyph rank rises from 9 to 11.
-
Attempt 2: Glyph rank climbs from 11 to 12.- In the latest updates, glyph ranks have undergone significant changes.
-
Attempt 3: Now allows glyph rank to rise from 12 to 13.
-
Bonus Attempt 4: Glyph rank can advance from 13 to 14.
-
For the third pit run, the following were observed:
-
Attempt 1: Glyph rank remains at 14, but the radius size is enhanced.
-
Attempt 2: Glyph rank progresses from 15 to 16.
-
Attempt 3: Glyph rank escalates from 16 to 17.
-
Bonus Attempt 4: Glyph rank increases from 17 to 18.
-
The maximum glyph level has seen an expansion, now reaching up to 100.
-
At level 45, players can upgrade a rare glyph to legendary status utilizing gem fragments, which provides notable benefits:
-
The radius size of the glyph has been boosted from 4 to 5.
-
An additional affix is now granted to the glyph.
-
Every class now features an additional paragon board.
-
Each of these new boards introduces a unique legendary node.
-
Players can equip a maximum of five paragon boards, which includes the initial board.
-
The cap on paragon points earned through leveling has been raised from 200 to 300.
-
Ancestral items are now available starting from Torment 1.
-
These items consistently drop with an item power of 800, which is the maximum level.
-
Only ancestral items feature greater affixes.
-
Each ancestral item guarantees the presence of at least one greater affix.
-
Sacred items will cease to drop in the game. Any existing sacred items on your character will now hold a 'legacy' status. You can still use them but upgrades are not permitted.
-
Non-ancestral items will have a maximum item power limit set at 750. Legendary items acquired while at level 60 will consistently be at item power 750.
-
Items with an item power of 750 are eligible for masterworking, allowing up to four enhancements.
-
As part of the transition to the new realm-wide paragon system, character levels are undergoing a revision. Consequently, items exceeding an item power of 540 will be adjusted down to 540, and their affixes will be rerolled to the highest possible values within their respective ranges.
Martial experts in Sanctuary have unveiled advanced techniques aimed at conquering darkness.
It's time for you to master these skills, which will guide your class build in a fresh direction.
Enhance your character's potential with five new passive abilities for each class.
Additionally, we've expanded connections for some passives within each class's skill tree.
This enhancement provides more pathways to unlock these passives, offering greater flexibility during your leveling journey.
Important Note: Outside of the 2.0 PTR, access to runewords requires the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Runewords elevate your character's strength by allowing you to create unique abilities.
You will encounter two categories of runes in Sanctuary: ritual and invocation.
- Ritual runes require specific actions to activate.
- Invocation runes unleash powerful effects upon meeting their triggers.
For instance, consider the Bac rune of ritual: its activation condition requires your character to move a distance of 5 meters.
Jah Rune and Party Finder Overview
-
Introducing the Jah Rune of Invocation.
-
This rune allows players to replace their next evade action.
-
Instead of evading, you'll be able to perform the sorcerer's teleport.
-
Note that this ability comes with a cooldown period of 2 seconds.
-
Runes operate on a resource framework known as "offering," which is created by Runes of Ritual when specific conditions are met.
-
Runes of Invocation utilize this offering to trigger their effects.
-
The complexity of the requirements for Runes of Ritual determines how much offering they generate.
-
Conversely, the offering needed to activate a Rune of Invocation increases with the power of its effect.
-
You can amass more offering than what is necessary for activation.
-
This excess is linked to a mechanic called "overflow," enhancing the effects of many Runes of Invocation when they exceed the required offering.
-
To create a runeword, you need to insert both a Rune of Ritual and a Rune of Invocation into an item with two sockets, such as chests, leg armor, or two-handed weapons.
-
The helm slot has recently been updated to include an additional socket, allowing for runewords as well.
-
Any Rune of Ritual can pair with any Rune of Invocation.
-
Runes are categorized into three rarities: magic, rare, and legendary, with higher rarity indicating more powerful effects.
-
For example, consider the Bac Rune of Ritual: when equipped, your character generates 50 offering every 5 meters traveled.
- The jah rune of invocation will be paired once more.
- This rune allows you to substitute your next evade action.
- Instead, you will use the sorcerer’s teleport ability.
- Please note there is a cooldown period of 2 seconds for this effect.
- To activate this, a cost of 500 offerings is required.
-
Equipping both the Bac and Jah runes on an item creates the Bacjah runeword.
-
This combination allows your character to generate 50 offerings every time they travel 5 meters.
-
Once you accumulate 500 offerings, your next evade is replaced by the Sorcerer's teleport ability.
-
Runewords enable access to skills from different classes and can temporarily boost movement speed and abilities.
-
There are 17 ritual runes and 28 invocation runes, providing a wide range of combinations to explore.
-
Key points to remember about runes:
-
Runes are tradeable.
-
They stack and are stored in a dedicated socketable inventory tab.
-
You can equip a maximum of 2 runewords (totaling 4 runes).
-
The same rune cannot be equipped more than once.
-
Additionally, runes can be utilized to craft new runes.
-
Using 3 runes of the same type will yield a new rune that is guaranteed to differ from the originals.
-
Crafting with non-legendary runes may result in a rune of a higher rarity.
-
Runes can also be employed to craft mythics at the jeweler.- Crafting requires specific resources:
- 1 Resplendent Spark
- 10 Legendary Runes (specific type)
- 10 Rare Runes (specific type)
-
10 Magic Runes (specific type)
-
Runes can be obtained as monster drops throughout Sanctuary.
- During the PTR testing phase, players can access two caches of each rune from the 'PTR Boost' NPC in Zarbinzet via dialogue.
- Runes will be available for testing starting on September 6 .
-
We look forward to seeing your innovative runeword combinations during this PTR phase.
-
